Raw Banana Kofta (Kachche Kele ke Kofta curry) Recipe

 

Raw banana kofta is one of the classic curry from north Indian vegetarian recipes. In North India this dish served on special occasions. Raw banana kofta we can serve in main course dish with rotis, plain rice, pulao, puri , naan or parathas. These raw banana fried balls can be served as a snacks.

Serves : 3-4

Ingredients :

  • Raw bananas - 4 boil
  • Onion - 2 small (finely chopped)
  • Green chilly- 1
  • Garam Masala - 2 tbsp
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Asafetida (Hing)- 1 pinch
  • Cumin Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Ginger - 1 inch (roughly chopped)
  • Dry Red Chilly - 2
  • Garlic - 4 to 5
  • Bey leaves - 1
  • Green chilly - 3
  • Tomato - 4
  • Besan/Chickpeas Flour - 1/2 cup
  • Kashmiri red chilly powder- 2 tbsp
  • salt as per taste
  • Oil for fry

Method :

For Kofta

First we peel the raw banana. Then mash the raw banana. After that add chopped green chilly, finely chopped onion, garam masala, coriander powder, cumin powder, ginger past, cumin seeds, red chilly powder and salt into the dough and mix well. Now add 2 tbsp besan and mix well. Now divide the balls in equal size kofta balls. Keep them aside.

For curry :

To prepare the grave, heat oil in pan or kadai. Now add the banana kofta into the oil and fry until become golden brown. Then drain oil and keep them side. In the same oil add cumin seeds and hing. Then add chopped onion, chopped ginger and garlic into the pan or kadhai and fry for a minute in high flame. Now keep inside and cool them. After that put into mixer jar and make a fine past. Then add bet leaf, dry red cilly, cumin seeds and hing, wait for them spattering. Add turmeric power, coriander powder, red chilly powder and add the past, fry them for 3 to 4 minutes. After that add tomato and green chilly past and cook on medium flame 3 to 4 minutes until the gravy start leaving oil from the side. When gravy is done , add curry leaves, salt and garam masala and mix well. Now add 2 cup water into the pan or kadai and stir well. Boil for 4-5 minutes on high flame. Then add the fried kofta balls into the gravy. Give a stir and switch off the flame. Raw Banana Kofta Curry is ready to serve.
